There are different standards for the sizes of paper. A0 size is part of the A standard. The A standard is the international standard. The A standard is part of the “A”, “B” and “C” series of paper sizes of the ISO 216. The ISO 216 is the international standard for a sheet of paper. North America and parts of Central and South America use other paper sizes such as “Letter” and “Legal”.

The ISO A0 size is used in large parts of the world (yellow color). In the blue parts the US standard “Letter” is used.

Proportions of the A0 size compared to other sizes.

An A0 has a surface area of 841 x 1189 millimetres. In inches, this is 33.110 x 46.811 inches.

With the A series of paper sizes, the next size is twice as large or small. The ratio of the A-standard between the long and short side is 2:1. If you fold a sheet of paper horizontally into two equal pieces, two pieces with the same ratio are created. An A0 is half the size of an 2A0. When you fold an A0, you have twice an A1.
